Please offer a prayer for the Fitzgerald family in our Parish who have lost both daughters in the space of three weeks.

Only three weeks ago their 16 year old daughter succumbed to cancer and died after a lengthy battle.

Two nights ago tragedy struck the family again when their only surviving daughter was killed in a car crash. She will be buried with her late sister tomorrow morning.

Truly God’s ways are above ours. May they both rest in Peace and may their parents, who now only have each other, find comfort during this very difficult time.

Oh my goodness, that poor family. I can only imagine what they’re going through. Please be assured of my prayers for them.

Horrid. God’s ways are certainly not our ways. I will pray that the parents make it through this nightmare.

Lord have mercy on the Fitzgerald family. Saint Joseph, please pray for them. Amen.

Dear Lord, I know you are holding this family close to your heart right now–the girls there beside you ‘seeing you face to face’, and the parents likewise beside you but still ‘looking through the glass darkly’. Send Your Spirit to this family on earth and pour the balm of your heavenly consolation upon them, the ‘peace that passes all understanding’. Mary, our Mother, you mourned your Son as they laid His broken body in your arms, and you rejoiced on that triumphant day when He arose from the dead, and death had no more power over Him. Remember in your loving maternal prayer the family who grieves over their children, and by your grace and your plea may Almighty God grant in this family your unshaken faith in God, that they will in heaven rejoice with their children that ‘death has no more power over them’.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.
