I’m developing a mission statement for a class I’m taking. Basically, this mission statement has to be one or two sentences and sum up what I see as the purpose of my life.

I know there are a ton of quotes from Saints out there, so I was wondering if anyone could give me some good quotes that I might be able to adapt/adopt as my own personal mission statement.

Thanks for your help, everyone.

There must be many good quotes out there. Surely you can use them as your reference and inspiration, but after all, a personal mission statement ought to be “personal”. Don’t you agree?

So, I suggest you first to think about the purpose of your life from your own perspective and point of view, then use some famous quotes to refine the wording of your own mission.

God bless!

I agree with your post and I’ve begun the process of doing that. However, I would like some quotes from Saints to look at to help inspire me.

Here are couple of them from St. Mother Teresa:

**“Love begins by taking care of the closest ones - the ones at home.”

“Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do… but how much love we put in that action.” **

ThinkExist.com has lots of quotes and you can search by keywords. It’s not exclusively saints, though (although they do have a lot of St. Francis quotes).

Well, after 22 years in AA, I suppose it is summed up by step 11.

“Sough through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”

In other words, I’d finesse 😃

My mission statement comes from the Catechism:

My purpose is to **know, love and serve God **by means of embracing my vocation as a wife and mother.

Simple, huh? 🙂

Simple is good. A mission statement should be simple enough that one can remember it and recite it when asked.

Thanks.

Mine is to get to heaven and drag as many people as possible along with me.

That sounds like a good idea. I used to have one, and it gave me some focus. I think for some of us there are two mission statements, the one we aspire to, and the one that we seem to follow often. The one that seems to operate all on its own, when I’m not paying attention, is “Get to the end of the day somehow without any great disaster, preferably with enough energy to get up on time the next morning.” How inspiring.

On a slightly higher plane, I seek God’s will in all situations and try to follow it. I ask myself at mass, what does God want me to do now? I usually figure the answer is “pray and worship” so I do that. When visiting relatives, I ask myself what would God want me to do now? It might be to go talk to a lonely relative. And so on.

I could use a snazzy mission statement.
