I know I’m very late, but if you could choose would you buy the novel or the dvd? Thanks. Was watching Golden Globe, and interested to watch it. My friend said, the movie isn’t very good.

I bought the DVD for my wife for Christmas.

We loved the movie.

The Golden Globe to Meryl Streep was Justified.

I haven’t seen the movie, so I can’t speak to that. I read the book and enjoyed it – if it’s even partly indicative of life in the high-fashion publishing industry, it’s an eye-opener.

The Meryl Streep character is deliciously evil.

I haven’t seen the movie either. I enjoyed the book on a beach-reading sort of level. That said, I would just get it from the library; it’s not worth paying for.

I read the book and saw the movie. The book wins hands down - it’s laugh out loud funny & really makes fun of the fashion industry. The main character is also more likeable - not because of any problem w/Ann Hathaway in the movie - but in the book she always seems to have a good sense of herself and how silly many of the situations she is in are – plus I don’t recall her losing her own sense of morality like she did in the movie. I loved the book & thought it a nice light read. The movie is okay but not great - it was more humorous for me since I had read the movie - than for my friend who hadn’t. I thought Meryl Streep made her character much more human than in the book - that’s worth a rental I’d say. 🙂

Thanks for the advices. I think I’ll borrow the book and the movie 😃

I think most of the time, books are better than the movie.

I borrowed the book and saw the movie at the theater, and see no need to own either. They were both good, though (and fun).

Sounds like a chick book, but as a guy I did enjoy the movie.
