Well, I’ve been looking into the devotion to Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa and I’m just curious about how many of you out there have devotion to Mary under this title.

I’m especially curious to see how many people out there have devotion to Mary under this title and are not Polish (since this title of Mary comes from Poland)

I attend two churches in my area and one of them is called St. Anthony which is a Polish parish. Right before the mass begins everyone turns towards an image of St. Anthony to the side of the altar that slowly starts to slide down to reveal beneath it a stunning icon of Our Lady of Czetochowa and as the icon is being revealed we all sing a hymn to Our Lady and then the mass begins.

It is a really beautiful way to honor Our Lady and I always try to sit as close to Our Lady’s image as I can so that she can help me to remain focused on Our Lord. In my Parish along with the Polish parishioners you will find many Hispanics and Filipinos. I am Hispanic but I love to pray to Our Lady of Czetochowa.

Here is a picture I took of the icon at my church

Peace.

Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut. I love that you do the unveiling of the icon. The same practice is done with the original icon in Poland. I agree, it is a great way to honor Mary.

You’re very welcome. 🙂 I didn’t know that they did an unveiling of the original icon in Poland, that is wonderful to know. I will speak to my priest to find out more about the practices concerning veneration of the icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

Now, I am off to mass…

God bless you.

If you are able to spost some pics of the icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa from your own parishes, feel free to post them here too. Also if you have received any graces through Our Lady after asking her intercession under this title feel free to post here too.

I read this online about how Our Lady of Czestochowa helped someone. www.postabortionhelp.org/pdf%20files/Our%20Lady%20of%20Czestochowa.pdf

CathMass -
I’m not Polish. But through the years I’ve seen Our Lady of Czestochowa - first, mostly on “icons” in Polish or Slavic Churches, if I had occasion to visit them – or in more recent years the same image (coming alot in the mail) under the title, “Our Lady of Perpetual Help”. I love Our Lady. She is my Mother as given to us by Our Lord. But I don’t have regular daily devotion to her under this title. I do love it though - and have found she comes to me often, be it through mails or whatever - and I think there’s a reason. I have a small wooden icon of her, as well.

The only thing I do know about the image is that the Child Jesus in her arms - is frightened by being shown His Future (images of tools used in the Crucifixion) by the Angels in the image. As I said, I’m not Polish but have a warmth in my heart for this particular title of Our Lady. May she intercede and bless us all.

Following my reply of minutes ago -
Have I confused Our Lady of Czestochowa with Our Lady of Perpetual Help? If so, my apologies.

That’s okay.
Just remember, Czestochowa = Black Madonna with scars and Perpetual Help = Our Lord with his sandal falling off.

Anyway both are still Our Lady and both are supposedly painted by St. Luke.

oooooo 👍 Good one !
Thanks for that helpful hint.

I am of Irish descent and have a devotion to OLC. I went on retreat at the National Shrine of OLC in Doylestown, PA when I was in my first year of the seminary, combined with my three year affiliation with a Polish parish in NJ, and then actually visiting the Shrine in Poland, I have found great consolation from Our Lady under this title. Though as a Carmelite I do have a great devotion to Our Lady under the title of Mount Carmel, I do, from time to time, seek her intercession under OLC.

In Carmel,

Br. Allen
