"Diagnosis of the Heart: The Parable of the Sower"

Yes, I agree it is! I continue to ponder many facets of this particular blog entry on the “Sower and the Seed” parable, and perhaps mostly how we need to ask God to purify our hearts.

Yesterday, I began re-reading Fr. Langford’s book: “Mother Teresa: in the Shadow of Our Lady”. Mother told her sisters to ask our Blessed Mother to “lend them her heart” that they may love Jesus with her pure heart. Those words reminded me of words from St. Louis de Montfort’s “True Devotion”. Mother encouraged her sisters also to make the Preparation for and total Consecration to Mary taught by St. Louis in his treatise on “True Devotion.”

I’m reminded this morning also of Our Lady’s words at Fatima: “My Immaculate Heart will triumph”. Jesus came to us the first time through Mary and He will continue to come through her until He comes in Final Glory at the end of time. It is good for all of us to look into our hearts, and find Him there with His Mother!

Jesus, Meek and Humble of Heart, make our hearts like Yours.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Thomas’ commentary is a blessing. As you pointed out: the distinction between the ‘rocky’ and ‘thorny’ conditions can be very helpful in our prayerful pondering of the Lord’s Parable.

It impressed me in a new way to hear the Lord say: “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?" How important it is for us to listen!
