Did Christ Have a Tattoo?

It is the moderators role to keep a thread on track. As the moderator mentioned the thread topic is whether Jesus had a tattoo or not. Its not about if its okay to have your ears pierced.
Its very easy to digress (which I have also been gulity of in other threads) and threads end up discussing many different subjects and confusion reigns.
You should not take offence about being told to stick to the thread topic. That happens to many of us from time to time.

I am bearing my cross, and hubly submitting to legitimate authority as I comment only on the topic of the thread at hand (God bless you Mod.) Jesus would not have had a tattoo, because it would have been in direct violation of Mosaic Law, which would have been impossible since He fulfilled the Mosaic Law perfectly. Jesus was a Jew, bound by Mosaic Law, and being tattooed would have been contrary to the Law by which He was bound. However, the NT tells us that our Salvation is not contingent on our fulfillment of “the Law” (Mosaic, or OT Law), so we are no longer bound by the Laws of the OT as Christ fulfilled the Law and through Him we are entered into a New Covenant with God. In short, Jesus would not have been tattooed, but if we are, then there is nothing in that that could hinder our Salvation or harm our relationship with Jesus. I once scoured the CAtechism on this one (being tattooed several times myself) and the Catechism is completely silent on the subject, so my conclusion is that the prohibition on tattooing is simply a Mosaic Law to which we are no longer bound (just like Kosher food laws, the OT sacrificial system, etc.).

You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh on account of the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord. (Le 19:28).

I wonder if a surgery is forbidden? because it involves cutting of flesh.

He told her that it was in Revelation that Jesus had one.
I told her that I did not believe it, but if anyone would know for sure, it would be this forum.
If the teen quoted Revelation, it must be something symbolic but not physically true.
Anyone know Revelation so well as to answer this?

Well, if we take that literally, then we must believe that Jesus keeps a sword inside His mouth as well! 😉

Now, are there any teenagers out there that keeps sharp articles inside their mouths, because they could use this passage for justification! 😃

EDIT: Just noticed that this thread is over four-five years old! :eek:
