Hey everyone. Earlier I intended to be unchaste and told my boyfriend I would but I changed my mind and didn’t do it. Did I commit a mortal sin? My friend says I did.

If your intention was to be unchaste then yes, go to confession.
God bless you. (:

The thing about sex outside of marriage is that it doesn’t have God’s blessing or sanction, because sex is just one piece of the pie in a relationship. Sex is not just a physical union, but an emotional binding tie that unites the soul of a man to a woman. That is the reason sex outside of marriage is sinful.

Whether you acted upon your desires or not, I think the intention was as good as doing the deed itself. But when you changed your mind, you got right back on track. I say that all you needed to do at that point was to repent (ask God right then and there for forgiveness) and then go to confession at a later time.

I will pray a rosary for you keeping chaste in accordance with God’s Most Holy Will.

I wouldn’t think so, but why did you let peer pressure let you say yes?
Waiting until married is a spiritual blessing / gift to yourself,
God’s allowance / inheritance is only for you.

Thanks. I didn’t think I committed a mortal sin since I did not go through with my intentions.
Jesus told the apostles that if they so much as look at a woman with lust in their heart that they have incurred guilt. I would bring this to a confessor, because you went so far as to tell your bf that would be unchaste with him. Not to discourage you, because it is good that you changed your mind. Praying for you.

By thine Immaculate Conception, O Mary, make my body pure and my soul holy. Hail Mary…

repeat 3x’s.
