Did I sin by listening to and singing this song?

This past weekend, I was fishing and drinking beer with my brother-in-law. We were also listening to old country music, and the song “If heaven ain’t a lot like Dixie, I don’t want to go” came on. Well, when I was younger, this was one of my favorite songs, so I sang along, but after reflecting on the lyrics, I feel like I committed a sin, or at least displeased God. I would never say “I don’t want to go to heaven”, and mean it. Am I being scrupulous, or is this a legitimate concern that should be confessed. Thoughts please.
 
You probably didn’t sin much by singing it before because you hadn’t considered the lyrics. They’re a tad bit idolatrous, but that’s a matter of the heart, isn’t it? Maybe some singing about women and booze. Could be worse. Now that you know what it’s saying, you can simply not worry about it and avoid it in the future so that it doesn’t become something that causes you to lapse and forget that you’re a child of God more than a child of Dixie.

It is a song, you were singing it for fun. It is not influencing your belief, nor does it appear to be putting you in a near occasion of sin, so I’d say you’re good.

Were you intending idolatry and making fun of religion? If not, then probably not a mortal sin no matter how scrupulous others may be for you. The answer here, of course, is if it’s causing you this much trouble, to think of any other possible sins, gather them into a basket, haul them off to the confessional and give them to God.
