Hi,
On one of the Sunday masses in my church, the priest said that Jesus learnt about him being Messiah from the Psalms…Didnt he know?I mean,in bible it says that he discussed with Jewish, i thought he knew he was the Messiah from the beggining, and of course,he knew it when he was in his earthly body, right from his childhood. Can you explain this?

Sorry about my English by the way 😛

Yes He knew. When found in the temple He said “Didn’t you know I would be about my Father’s business?”

Yes, He knew. He is the Author of the Psalms!
Read that passage again when his parents found him in the temple. He was asking the questions, and He was giving the answers. They were amazed at His replies because He was stumping them.

…they came upon him in the temple sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. All who heard him were amazed at his intelligence and his answers. Luke 245-47

An example of what he might have been saying is found here…

In turn Jesus put a question to the assembled Pharisees, "What is your opinion about the Messiah? Whose son is he? “David’s,” they answered. He said to them, “Then how is it that David under the Spirit’s influence calls him ‘lord,’ as he does: ‘The Lord said to my lord, Sit at my right hand , until I humble your enemies beneath your feet’?
If David calls him ‘lord,’ how can he be his son?” No one could give him an answer; therefore no one dared, from that day on, to ask him any questions. Matt 22: 41-46

Pope Saint Pius X formally condemned the idea that Jesus ‘found out’ He was Messiah later in life, rather than from the moment of conception. In his Papal Encyclical condemning Modernism-Liberalism, look what Pope Pius X says as one of the errors:
35. It is an error to believe that] Christ did not always possess the consciousness of His Messianic dignity.

Christ enjoyed the beatific vision from the moment of His conception, and also possessed infused knowledge in addition to the experiential knowledge common to man. There’s no way He “discovered” His identity. A really good paper on this:

When did Jesus know that He is God? by Fr. Dylan Schrader (PDF format)

Yes He knew. When found in the temple He said “Didn’t you know I would be about my Father’s business?”
👍 And those are the very first words of Jesus that are recorded in Scripture. I don’t think that’s an accident.
