From reading numerous threads on this board I know that the Church’s teaching is that if you honestly forget to confess a sin, it is still forgiven during confession.
However, I was reading the published diary of St. Faustina Kowalska and during one of her messages from Jesus she was told that unconfessed sins, even if they are honestly forgotten, remain unforgiven. Only confessed sins are forgiven.
