Did Jesus use His divinity on earth?

I once heard a protestant preacher say that EVERYTHING Jesus did here on earth was done only with His human nature. Is this true? I realize that His human will was totally in line with His divine will but did He ever use his divinity such as when He read the hearts of the Pharisees?

No, what this preacher says is not true at all. Jesus used His Divine power every time there was a miracle. He used His Divine power when he raised Lazarus from the dead.

This preacher is quite literally blaspheming the Holy Spirit to make a claim that Jesus only used his human nature on earth. The Pharisees claimed that the miracles that Jesus perfomed were the work of Beezlebul. The preacher has used different words but is implying the same.

I agree that Jesus divinity and humanity were present and active at all times. But why then, did Jesus repeatedly say “your faith healed you?” He never said, I healed you by my power.

Faith alone did not heal these people. They had faith that Jesus was the Son of God and that He could heal them. How many times did he say “I want it”?

Accoring to Jesus miracles come from faith. Matthew 17:17 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

I think His forgiving the cripple’s sins in Matthew 9:2 as well as His quelling the storm were regarded by those who witnessed it as divine power.

I don’t understand how the dead can be raised and the sick can be cured without divinity being employed at all. The same thing goes for walking on water. Maybe I am a simpleton, but I would have to say yes, divinity was used. Some people may argue that soem miracles were cases of illusions and coincidences, but even under that interpretation, I believe that so many coincidences would have to be divine work.

When Jesus told the man his sins were forgiven, it would have had to be by divine power for only God forgives sin.

God’s grace is realized through faith. When people have faith they are assenting to the graces God is offering them, therefore they are “healed by their faith”. It is always God doing the healing, and Jesus is indeed God.

Can you even separate Jesus’ divine nature from his human nature? He is God. I don’t see how he could do anything at all as only human. He would have to cease being God for a moment.

I think the point the preacher is trying to make is we can all do the same miracles Jesus did. I find this bordering on blasphemy.

Even if Jesus could ‘split’ his two natures, the divine would still be authorising the miracles that the human performed! So it could never be argued that the human nature was performing miracles of it’s own inherent nature.
