Did Knights Templar worship Baphomet instead of God?

How could they do that because they were Fellow-Soldiers of Christ? Or were they falsely accused of worshipping it?

The story I heard was that others were jealous of their power, money, other assets, etc, and the charges were fabricated.
 
These accusations against the Templars are totally false and were made against them by their enemies. Namely the French king at the time, Phillip the Good, who owed them large sums of money. He was responsible for persecuting them and pressured the Pope to disband their Order.

The Templars at the time had gotten extremely wealthy and started rivalling the wealth and power of the king. So he levelled upon them false accusations of Devil worship, spitting on the Cross, homosexual behavior during Mass, etc… in order to justify persecuting them.

No. They were falsely accused of all sorts of nonsense.
Boils down to politics of the day. A king (France) who was going bankrupt and thought himself entitled to the Templers treasury.
