The questions seems silly.

However, where I am in my journey, it is real.

Did Moses know or have faith?

Thanks!

Oh, the same question for the prophets, kings and writers of the the actual texts of Sacred Scripture?

Yes, they all had some amount of faith.

The better question is, did they trust God?

And an even more important question is, how well do we trust God?

Not only did God speak of Moses as (Deuteronomy 34:10) one whom He “knew” face to face–as a man speaks to his friend–but Moses is spoken of at the Transfiguration as speaking to Christ of His impending suffering (Luke 9:29-32: Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem) We are taught that (Ps 25:14) The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. We also know that (Heb 11:6 . . without faith it is impossible to please God , because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

So, if God spoke to Moses face to face as a friend, if God confided in Moses (in the OT regarding the Israelites and in the NT about His own death and resurrection), and we know from that very text that Moses was in heaven at that time, we can come to some pretty clear conclusions, merely on those things.

But finally and surely, the scripture itself teaches us this directly in Heb 11:24-28:

“By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.”

Yes, absolutely! Moses had faith. 🙂

Thanks for the help?

Did the apostles have faith or did they know after the resurrection?

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, did they have faith or knowledge or certainity?

Again, thanks!

Hi Jim,

If you read Hebrews 11, commonly referred to as the “Faith Chapter”, it will be clear to you that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob all had faith while they lived their human lives, for an account of their faith–while they lived–is written in this chapter for our inspiration and encouragement.

Insofar as the disciples/apostles, they too had faith, for the things of the Spirit are only understood by the Spirit (2 Co 2:15) And certain key texts make it clear that they had spiritual discernment (Matt 16:17; and this blatant confession of St. Peter’s in John 6:68-69) "Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.” Of course they wavered–as all of us of faith do at times. When they were out on the lake and a furious storm arose and they were afraid and cried out to Jesus, he said to them in Matt 8:26: “You of little faith , why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. So it is clear that they had faith, though it was weak and incomplete. It was “little.”

To me, the wonderful thing about it all is that He does accept us–even when our faith is weak and imperfect.

I hope this helps. God bless 🙂
