About two weeks ago, I was married to my wife. Of course in a beautiful Catholic nuptial Mass. It was on a Saturday at 3 PM. I was planning to go to Mass the next day as well, but her mother (also a Catholic) insisted that our nuptial Mass fulfilled our Sunday obligation, but only ours. For some reason, unlike myself, I took her at her word and thought nothing of the fact that I didn’t go to Mass that next morning.

A Saturday afternoon Mass (nuptial or otherwise) fulfills the Sunday obligation, not just for you but for all other Catholics present at the Mass. But you could certainly have gone to Mass the next day if you wished. Having fulfilled the obligation does not mean that you can’t go on Sunday, especially if you would like to hear the readings for Sunday.
