Did Our Lady accept the consecration of Russia by John Paul II?

According to a book I’m reading, Sister Lucia in her own words, Sister Lucia said in 1989 the consecration of Russia by John Paul II was accepted by the Blessed Mother.

Why then is there so much violence and sin in the world? I can point to the Middle East and especially what’s happening in Mosul Iraq where christians are being crucified as examples along with Ukraine.

I thought there was supposed to be a period of peace once the consecration was accepted.
