I’ll just leave you with our disagreement and let this thread continue. My bad for derailing it on this board.
It wasn’t a derail…but I have offered rather substantial evidence that what you assert is not in fact an authentic Christian belief, ether currently or in the early church.

It’s important to accept factual truth, even when it conflicts with what one has been taught by preachers and teachers who can be proved to be in error. That is…if one loves truth and believes what Our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ said.

John 14:6
Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.

Like I said, I’ll just leave it at this. We’ll be here all day if we start citing sources for proofs for/against. There are just as extensive writings to be found on the other side of the argument, and it would be an exercise in futility.

Don’t cop out now! If there are all these sources, then by all means provide them. We have the time and we will examine them closely.

It’s only futile if your “evidence” is less persuasive than you think it is.

In order to answer this question, one must be aware of how marriage took place.

Marriage was accomplished in two steps.

The first part of the marriage was referred to as the betrothal.
Mathew 1:18 They were husband and wife at this point but did not live together. This period lasted about a year. During this year the couple prepared to live with one another. The second part was when the man would take the woman into his house. Jesus speaks of this in His parable of the wise and fullish women. Scripture also speaks of the Angel telling Joseph to take Mary, his wife, into his home thus completing the second part of the marriage.
Mary was married at the time of the announcement of the Angel that she would be Jesus’ mother.
