It can get a bit more complicated when a theological doctrine is seen to be firmly dependent/attached to a scientific or biological truth. Think “Virgin in partu” doctrine (a hotly debated thread at present) or think geocentrism/Galileo and Biblical inerrancy.The Church didn’t have a “teaching” on this as it is not a matter of faith or morals.
