Did the events recounted in the Gospels really happen?

To run through a few notable points of the Gospel:

1. 
   *]Jesus said to one of his disciples, “You will deny me three times.” And sure enough, Peter did.
   *]Jesus said “One of you will betray me.” And sure enough, Judas did.
   
   I get the uncanny feeling that what Jesus said would happen would indeed happen, no matter what. This seems like a breach of free will.
   
   Surely not?

Hi,

Scripture is in deed full of paradox, but we don’t want to put it where it doesn’t exist. To know an event will take place before it actually does, does not authomatically mean that one is causing it to happen. That I know that it is going to get dark tonight, does not mean that I am making it happen.
