Did the priest err by leaving out a prayer?

I attended Mass today and the priest left out the ‘Lamb of God’ (Agnus Dei).

Now I’m pretty sure that that’s NOT an optional part of the Mass so I’m assuming it was just a mistake. Certainly it seemed to confuse the congregation!

I just wanted to double check if there’s any rules I don’t know about that make the ‘Lamb of God’ at the discretion of the priest?

Not that I’m planning on tittle-tattling to the Bishop. If it’s definitely mandatory, I’d be pretty sure it was just a slip-up. I am just suddenly wondering if I now know as much as I thought I did!

The Angus Dei should be said or sung on every day except Holy Saturday and Good Friday.

Holy Saturday? Isn’t it sung at the Easter Vigil?

And for the Original Poster,
Yes, that should not have been done. The Agnus Dei is said at all masses (no masses celebrated on good friday)

Easter Vigil is, well, Easter. Since night has arrived it is already the Liturgical Sunday so its no Saturday anymore.
