I am a bit confused about this scripture…I have heard it was Yahweh and the other 2 forms of the Blessed Trinity that came to Sodom and Gomorrah?

My scripture knowledge of this event is shaky …Is the fact the men of these towns wanted sex with them why the cities were destroyed?

I want Catholic teaching please

The Two Visitors were Angels in disguise.
In Genesis 19, two angels in disguise visit the city of Sodom and are offered hospitality and shelter by Lot. During the night, the men of Sodom demand that Lot hand over his guests for homosexual intercourse. Lot refuses, and the angels blind the men of Sodom. Lot and his household escape, and the town is destroyed by fire “because the outcry against its people has become great before the Lord” (Gen. 19:13).
Jude 7 records that Sodom and Gomorrah “acted immorally and indulged in unnatural lust.” Ezekiel says that Sodom committed “abominable things” (Ezek. 16:50), which could refer to homosexual and heterosexual acts of sin. Lot even offered his two virgin daughters in place of his guests, but the men of Sodom rejected the offer, preferring homosexual sex over heterosexual sex (Gen. 19:8–9). Ezekiel does allude to a lack of hospitality in saying that Sodom “did not aid the poor and needy” (Ezek. 16:49). So homosexual acts and a lack of hospitality both contributed to the destruction of Sodom, with the former being the far greater sin, the “abominable thing” that set off God’s wrath.

I’ve always understood it to be that the Son came and two angels came along with him. I like to think of the two angels as Michael and Gabriel personally, with the pre-incarnate Christ as God meeting Abraham. This would fit well with what Christ said, “Abraham saw my day and was glad”

Somewhere I have seen an icon labeled The Old Testament Trinity showing Abraham and his three guests.

I have read that the 3 were thought to be the Trinity
If you’re talking about that type of icon called The Hospitality of Abraham or The Old Testament Trinity (depicting the hospitality of Abraham at Mamre), it is usually explained that the three visitors are only a ‘type’ or a prefigurement of the Trinity, not the Trinity itself, since the Text explicitly says that the visitors were the Lord along with two Angels.

God, a unity of three persons, can not be separated. Where you see one person (Jesus for example…or the Father) you have all three present - ALWAYS.
