In our weekly Bible Study, a non-Catholic member stated that the Jesuits were once reprimanded or possibly faced disolution because at a time of persecution (possibly French Revolution) they were instructed to renounce their faith when challenged but viewed this as a mental exercise which did not speak the trutch that lie in their hearts. Did this happen? Does anyone know more about it and how it was resolved?
