I attended Holy Thursday in the Extraordinary Form this year for the first time at a FSSP Parish.

I was a bit surprised that we didn’t do the Feet Washing. I know it’s opinional, but I thought we would have had it with either all men or by having the priest wash the feet of the altar servers (there were over 12 of them).

So it made me curious, did you Parish do the feet washing this year?

And if so, did you atttend an EF or Of mass and was it all men, both men and women, or just servers/seminarians?

God Bless

Ordinary Form of the Mass.

Yes we had washing of the feet.

I wasn’t there, so I have no idea who participated.

Yes, my parish (OF) had the feet washing. I know there were both men and women but I can’t say I really watched what was happening. The lighting was kind of subdued that night so I had to work a bit harder than usual to read my choir music and watch the choir director.

Yes, there were eleven, all men, OF. Most if not all are active in the parish as ushers, lectors, EMHC.

For the first time since I’ve been Catholic, we did have a washing of the feet at my OF parish. There was a sign up sheet for parishioners. Last I saw they still needed one more person.
This was a change from years past. Previously we washed everyone’s hands who was at church that night. It was pretty goofy, horribly chaotic, and I didn’t really get it.
Unfortunately, I was away from my home parish this year and wasn’t able to participate. I would have liked to have been there.

Have both forms in my parish - O.F. and E.F.
I attended the E.F. - no, we didn’t have washing of the feet.
Don’t know what happened at the O.F.

All my regular parishes are OF and they all have foot washing and it is always a mixed group of males and females; also includes people of all different ages from young altar servers on up to old people.

This year my parish didn’t have foot washing as my priest is recovering from a stroke… he’s always done it previously, though. It’s both men and women in my parish.

Yes at our Benedictine abbey, 12 men selected from guests in the guesthouse.

Yes, at our OF parish, our priest washed the feet of 12 men who are Knights of Columbus. It was beautiful and reverent. Everything during this past week was beautiful and reverent, and our Chapel of Repose, set up over the course of several hours in our humble school cafeteria, was stunning.

It was done at the parish I attend.
This is one symbolic ceremony that I could do without.
I heard that this was one of the things that was done at an ACTS retreat.
Though I understand the symbolism, I don’t think it is something I would being will to participate in.
