Difference between ICK and FSSP?

Nope I have not. I have a stack of books 2 feet high on Dominicans plus my study bibles that I am trying to work my way through. I would like to check it out but I don’t see it happening soon unfortunately.
 
I’m a big fan of ICRSS 😃 I considered them before the Congregation of Holy Cross.

Canon Moreau (who is at a parish in CA) and Canon Talarico at the Shrine of Christ the King in Chicago are great men of faith. The first time I met Canon Moreau, I knew he burned with zeal, something that inspired me right before I became a seminarian.

Today’s the Feast of Christ the King too haha So say a prayer for ICRSS 👍

I’ve heard it said that ICRSS celebrates TLM in a baroque fashion whilst FSSP does so in how it was in the early 20th century. ICRSS is very fastidious about preserving the beauty and elegance of TLM and so others tease it that it’s too “lacey” at times haha. One of their apostolates is the restoration of churches back to their original architectural glory.

Canon Moreau is not in CA anymore. I just met him today. I can’t believe my luck. Or is it providence?

This is a book you can read a little bit at a time. I’m just sayin’.

There is a project that I foresee coming next, the unification of the Roman Calendar. It wouldn’t hurt the EF or the OF at all. But it would simplify matters for the secular Catholic.

They may be able to do something as the five orders have done. We wove our calendars with the Roman Calendar so that you cover the major holy days on the Roman Calendar and the major holy days of the orders. You also cover the liturgical seasons at one time without overlapping or gaps. It took a few years and a lot of effort, but it works.

You know, my area is Mystical and Ascetical Theology, not Liturgy. I would not want to mislead anyone into thinking that I know what I’m talking about when I speak about the calendar. I really don’t know all of the logistics that go into it. I will say this, which I do know.

Ordinary Time is often misunderstood. People think that it means common. That’s not it at all. It comes from the mathematical term ordinal: first, second, third, etc.

The Sundays are ordered. They came up with this system when they decided to create the cycles. The objective was to organize the readings in such a way that you read all of the Gospels by the end of the third year with an OT and NT reading preceding each Gospel reading. They actually thought this out very well. The readings were organized in the order that they were written: OT first, Epistles second, and Gospels third. The cycle is interrupted by the major liturgical seasons: Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Some solemnities fall on Sundays such as Christ the King.

There may be some argument in favor of keeping the order, which would allow us to continue reading the four Gospels in an orderly fashion. You need experts on the calendar to do this so that you don’t leave anything out. As they are working on it, they consult the theologians, scripture scholars and lawyers.

I would guess that the Ordinary Time will stay, but I think that new feast days will be inserted and even replace some older ones. You have about 10,000 canonized saints and blesseds and only 365 days to work with.

I wish that I were more knowledgeable on the matter.
