Difference between works and acts

So I’m reading an argument between a catholic and a protestant, and I’m getting confused. They are referencing “acts” “deeds” “good works” and “works”(which I think means sacraments like confession and the Eucharist). What’s the difference here? When the bible says, for instance, that “faith without works is dead”, (James 2:20) does it mean stuff like confession and the Eucharist?

Yes- a lot of our “works” stem to our sacraments, praying the rosary, the stations of the cross, going to mass, etc.
Protestants that you do not need works to get to heaven, just to accept Jesus in your heart.
Therefore, they done believe praying gets you closer to God, living a life that reflections God’s image (in my opinion is a work), attending church, or recieving the body and blood of Jesus.
