Differences between Cleric Regular orders and choosing between them

The Camilians offer healthcare and the Piarists are an educational order but what about the other six Cleric Regular orders? What are their main and distinguishing characteristics?

I would be interested in an order that a) has lay brothers as well and not just priests as I definitely don’t feeling a calling to the priesthood; and b) places as little emphasis on communal prayer/living as possible (I hope this doesn’t sound wrong).

I know what you’re talking about, but I can’t remember which CRs have such a plan of life. They were in the vicinity of Carson, California. They didn’t pray the Office because it interfered with the Apostolate.
