Differences in catholic faith and jewish faith?

Well the whole “Is Jesus the Messiah or not” would be the deal breaker with the two religions. The Jews don’t think He is, so they are still under the strictures of the Mosaic Covenant.

The Catholic Church teaches that Jesus has fulfilled the Old Covenant Law and has brought in a New Covenant. Because of this, we are no longer subject to the many rules of the Jewish Laws. The most obvious of which are the purity and eating laws.

With that said, you’ll find numerous similarities between the Jewish Liturgy and the Catholic Liturgy, although you won’t find any Gospels or Paul’s Epistles read in the Jewish Liturgy.

You will find the OT Scriptures read as well as the Psalms, which I believe are in a similar responsorial setting like ours.

Incidentally, the words spoken while blessing the bread and wine are very close to some of the ancient prayers of the Jews. For instance, Jesus could have said, something very similar to the words used by the priest at the Mass:
Blessed are you Lord, God of all Creation. Through you goodness, we have this bread to offer. Which earth has given and human hands have made, it will become our spiritual food.

This was one of the blessing prayers used by the Jews during Jesus’ time.
