Ok, I know that some people cry after Holy Communion. I have and I sometimes feel like I am about to cry. There are sometimes I don’t feel any emotion.

There are also times when I feel hot afterwards. Like, I get really warm and my hands sweat. It’s like a hot flash, but I am no where near that stage in life. Is this normal? Is something wrong with me? Others out there have this happen? :o

I don’t think there is anything wrong it but talk to a priest about it.

God bless.

I know what you are talking about. I’m in RCIA and have not taken communion yet however I do sit in our Adoration chapel for an hour once a week. Sometimes I start to cry. Sometimes I feel a burning sensation all over my body. One time I actually started to laugh hysterically and had to leave so I wouldn’t disturb others…I had no idea why I was laughing. Mostly I just get sleepy. I don’t know how to explain it…except that Jesus really is there. It’s a beautiful thing. I feel so much at peace in that little chapel that sometimes it’s hard to leave. For the rest of that day I feel like a huge burden has been lifted off of me. Then each week I feel more and more at peace.
God Bless You 🙂

I often get hot after communion too. It’s not an unpleasant feeling, it’s quite nice actually. I never thought hard about it, just assumed it was from the sudden movement after sitting and the bodies all around me. But I don’t think I experience it anywhere else. It’s something to think about!

Yeah, I don’t feel ill. It is like a happy flush. lol. Whew, at least I’m not the only one! 🙂

Not to dampen anybody’s spirits, but it might be the accidents of the Precious Blood affecting your body on a fasting, empty stomach.

But you know, grace builds on nature. Jesus can communicate His grace and joy and love through ordinary events, and thus make them supernatural. The old Septuagint translation of Psalm 22/23:5, now usually “My cup is overflowing,” was “Your chalice inebriates me.” So the Fathers liked to play with the idea of Jesus making us drunk on Him, by His Humanity and Godhood both being within us, because obviously the Messiah is stronger than any wine.

So it also might be entirely supernatural.

Either way, it’s grace.

Niacin can also give you temporary hot flushing, especially on an empty stomach.
