I was wondering as catholics and other religions out there. Catholics have to live up to God, but what happens to other people who believe in another religion or have no religion. Do they still sin against God because they don’t go by want the church wants. My friend is buddist, but she believe in other things and not God. I think i just confused myself ummmm…so like how do we know what is the one true religion. People grow up in different places in the world and there cultures differ from all of us and thats what they have been taught, but if they believe in another religion then what happens to them when they die? But they’re still good people, but don’t live up to the catholic church. is it hell for them? i dont know can someone explain because i like to learn more about these kind of things. Thanks.

Hi Rocksta,

You didn’t say much about your personal beliefs, but you have asked all the right questions. What happens to people when they die? What happens to people who believe in other religions or no religion? How do we know the one true religion? Great questions!!!

The Catholic Answers home page is a great place to start looking for answers. They have a great library of articles on many subjects. Most are short, to the point, well thought and written and interesting to read.

The Catholic Church can set your mind at ease and your soul on fire. Please give it a try.

Thanks for your great post and here’s hoping you continue to hunger for truth. Please let me know if I can answer any questions that you don’t see on Catholic Answers. Love.

Let me just say a few things that will hopefully clarify for you a little.

The Catholic Church does not teach that all non Catholic will go to hell! God will not hold them accountable for the things that they, by no fault of there own, did not know.

Do not fall into the trap of believing that one religion is just as good as another. Some other religions may contain bits and pieces of the Truth, but only the Catholic Church contains the full deposit of faith.

Being a good person is not the same thing as being a holy person. God calls us to be holy!

k i’ll ask questions if i have more. Thanks guys for your responses.

Catechism of the Catholic Church

847 Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gosel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.

Notice that the Church says “MAY” achieve eternal salvation.
