Different stations of the cross

the other day I prayed the stations of the cross in a chapel. I had a prayer booklet with me. I’ve noticed that some of the stations were not the same with those in the booklet. And the stations had no label on them. I tried searching for stations of the cross, but what I get is the one with 15 stations. There’s also the one with 14 stations, but with the 14th being Jesus is buried. The stations in that chapel, had the 14th one with the image of Jesus’ resurrection(it looked like it).

Does anyone have info on this alternative way of the cross?
 
The traditional Stations of the Cross are these fourteen:

  1. *]Christ condemned to death;
    *]the cross is laid upon him;
    *]His first fall;
    *]He meets His Blessed Mother;
    *]Simon of Cyrene is made to bear the cross;
    *]Christ’s face is wiped by Veronica;
    *]His second fall;
    *]He meets the women of Jerusalem;
    *]His third fall;
    *]He is stripped of His garments;
    *]His crucifixion;
    *]His death on the cross;
    *]His body is taken down from the cross; and
    *]laid in the tomb.
    Sometimes included in the Stations is the Resurrection which is considered the 15th Station.

    There are also several versions of prayers for the Stations of the Cross. For example St. Francis and St. Alphonsus Ligouri have different ones. It just depends what you prefer really.

There are now three sets of Stations, and one is free to use any of them. However, it’s now a “rule” of some kind that there be only 14 stations.

The first is the traditional one posted above.

The second one adheres more to the Gospels and covers a wider timespan, from the Last Supper to the Resurrection. It’s known as the “New Way of the Cross” here in the Philippines. It reduces the falls to one, and omits the meeting of his Mother and the Veronica station.

    *]Jesus before the Sanhedrin
    *]Jesus is scourged and crowned with thorns
    *]Jesus carries the cross to Calvary
    *]Jesus falls under the weight of the cross

    *]Jesus meets the pious women of Jerusalem
    *]Jesus is nailed on the cross
    *]Jesus promises Heaven to the repentant thief
    *]Jesus entrusts Mary and John to each other
    *]Jesus suffers and dies on the cross
    *]Jesus is taken down from the cross, and is laid in the tomb
    *]Jesus rises from the dead

    The third set is that one introduced by Pope John Paul II and presently used by Pope Benedict XVI in the Colloseum, and available from the Vatican web site. It’s also called the “Scriptural Way of the Cross”. It starts with the agony at Gethsemane and ends with his burial. It also sticks more to the Gospel accounts, omits the falls, the meeting of his Mother, and the Veronica station

      *]Jesus is betrayed by Judas and arrested,
      *]Jesus is condemned by the Sanhedrin,
      *]Jesus is denied by Peter,
      *]Jesus is judged by Pilate,

      *]Jesus promises his kingdom to the good thief,

      *]Jesus dies on the cross,
      *]Jesus is laid in the tomb.

      This is the set I was referring to; we’re from the same place.

I got what you meant by the Resurrection station, but what did you mean about ‘the other day’?

Ha ha. “The other day” is a common way Filipinos refer to “the day before yesterday” although I’ve heard a few (but only a few) Americans use it also.

Mind you, it isn’t wrong. But it does identify you (and me) as Filipino.
