With the election of Pope Benedict XVI, the church seems to have taken a turn back to the past. I worry that the church will lose younger people due to our current Pope’s fixation the past. What do the people in the Traditional Catholicism section feel will happen to the church with this uber-conservative pope?
On another thread in this forum a poster took a poll of those interested in Traditionalism. The largest group, by far, were those in their 20s-30s.

I also believe that the church is heading back in the right direction. From all the reports and readings that I’ve done, wherever and whenever the more traditional rights are observed we have a more vibrant church community ie. increased devotions, reverence, mass attendances and increased vocations. Lets hope and pray that the trend may continue.

There are statistics to prove this. The more we turn back to the “true” Catholic Church the more people in mass attendance, and from what I have read the young men going into seminaries is almost triple that of the “more modern” (liberal is a term people nit pick about) Catholic diocese. The numbers are there.👍

And I should add that the reform of the reform is what brought me into the Church, and converted 2 other friends of mine, as well as reinvigorated the faith of a cradle-Catholic I know. And tonight it has interested yet another teenager in Catholicism.

Viva il papa!
The reform of the reform brought me back. I am 24. If LifeTeen and other protestant-types of worship in the Church went away, all Catholics, and indeed the entire world, would be the better for it.
But protestant-raised now-Agnostic DH went to a very traditional Mass with me a few weeks ago and loved it. The smells and bells. In fact, he wants to send our daugher there for Pre-K4!

So take that Modernists!

Direction of the church? A step backward would be a step forward.
