Hi I was wondering if any of you are discerning going to the FSSP seminary or other traditional seminaries. I live in a country without FSSP, and am discerning if God wants me to be a priest for them.

I’m discerning with the Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem. I’ve made several visits with them, and am visiting with them for 10 days in a week to probably finalize what exactly will happen this fall.

There are several traditional priestly societies of apostolic life in good standing with Rome (FSSP, ICRSS, Good Shepard, the Apostolic Administration out of Campos), but actual societies of consecrated religious life, branches of Orders with vows, are rarer.

In the USA there are the traditional Carmelites, the clearcreek Benedictines (both very strict and cloistered) and the Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem (who have a somewhat more active outlook, uncloistered).

yup, me. Either Institute of Christ the King or FSSP in Germany, or the traditional Benedictines (Le Barroux in France). =) Norway has a lot of Lutherans right? Are there a lot of Catholics?

Well personally, I’d rather keep a lower profile, but being more used to the Traditional Breviary format these days… I guess some doors close.

I’m editing out my previous statement–after doing a little more checking, the “independent monastery” that I was referring to is not Clear Creek, which was invited into its current location by the diocesan bishop…

Better check carefully about the ClearCreek Benedictines–I’m under the impression that they are the monastic equivalent of those “Independent Chapels”…
I heard the FSSP seminarians made their annual retreat there, so you’re impression is probably wrong.

I’m sure you are right, Ace–that’s why I edited my original post. But thanks for the update…👋

Cool. Do you discern traditionalist Dominicans?
Look up the Society of St. Vincent Ferrier , its a french indult group that is domican though not officially recognized as a branch of the dominican order (but still officially recognized by the Pope and the Church of course).

AdvanceAlways,

I notice in your profile that you are Ruthenian Catholic. If I might ask, why do you go to TLM and not Divine Liturgy? Have you considered becoming a Ruthenian priest?
