I know we had discussed a priest leaving for discernment recently, I was also saddened to see one of EWTN’s “desert” nuns, left. They had an branch go to Arizona and I followed them with my family at desertnuns.com She had just gotten her new habit, hair cut, new name, this past year. My girls were facinated with all the photos and steps they had to take. She seemed so happy. I wonder how good the discernment process is or if for some, being cut off for some is just too much. I admire her for trying though and hope she comes back or maybe joins another order…with some contemplative orders, if it isn’t for you, you know it pretty quickly.
I always pray for priests and religous and there is a small vocation prayer on EWTN’S site that I try to say in the morning before work. I pray for good solid vocations, because a wishy/washy religious or someone with his/her own agenda does more harm than good.

May God bless you for praying for our Priests and Religious. My husband and I do the same daily. We make and give away Chaplets for Priests, we must have given away at least 700 by now, we own Catholic stores so we put them there for the taking, we donate them for St. Jospeh’s altars, we put them in the literature rack at church. Our Priests are in such need of prayer. A friend of mine had her parish closed and the new merging parish did not want the new members, the new members wanted their old parish back and they upset the priest there so much with their bickering that he had to retire due to a nervous breakdown, how sad!

I hope that doesn’t happen with ours…we have 2 parishes that merged and the two sets of members aren’t merging very well. Even confirmation classes are bickered about…we rotate but that has problems too. The priest looked so tired one meeting.
I always felt sorry for nuns and priests in a way when I was growing up. I was a “hyper-sensitive” child and it occured to me watching the adults that no one ever thought Father so and so or sister so and so had any problems or feelings at all. They really just thought the priest wanted to hear them complain for hours and enjoyed that.He was just “an ear” or a shoulder, never a person. Being chartible is one thing, being open to others, but if we forget how human they are, depression and other problems can set in.
That’s wonderful about your store…wish we had more near us!

We live in a small community along Bayou Lafourche, there is one road in and out of the Parish (you probably have counties) but we are the only state where everything is still divided as parishes anyway there are 4 Catholic Churchs on our part of the Bayou, well they talked about merging two of them and the people had a fit, and I am thinking, that just about everybody down here is related to everybody else down here, and you are having a fit because of the merging of two churches where you either are related to, know or grew up with the people where you may be going to church. It’s so stupid to me because it’s not like you won’t know anybody in your new parish, AND there is still the MOST IMPORTANT thing to realize, the same Jesus in the Eucharist that was in your former parish is in your new parish. I feel sorry for the poor priest who have to carry that cross. Anyway God bless you and keep on praying for our priests and religious for they are human and have such heavy crosses to bear as a result of their flock.🙂
