We bought a stainless steel Miele Inspira several years ago and have no complaints. IIt was around $1,000 but it was money well spent.
I had the pleasure of using a Miele washing machine on two separate occasions and would replace all our appliances with Miele equivalents if we could afford it.

We have a 12-year-old Bosch dishwasher (bought new) and have always loved it. It’s so quiet we can run it in the middle of the night without anyone complaining—we live in an apartment building that’s far from sound-proof (I can hear the washing machine operating two floors above us) and our neighbors aren’t the kind of people who would hold their tongues with regard to this type of disturbance. We can hear it purring away if we’re in the kitchen, but in any other room I would have no idea it was running.

Scrape-and-load isn’t a problem, even for pots and pans, since there is an “intense” cycle for things that are hard to clean. I can recall it being insufficient exactly once.

If silent operation is a priority, find out a candidate machine’s actual decibel rating, and then find out what independent consumer associations measured when they tested it. Price differences can often be explained at least in part when one prioritizes examining the objective data (decibel rating) over subjective description (“quiet”).

I have an Asko. It’s stainless steel interior and very, very quiet. Love it.
