I went to a parish event for the moms’ group at which our Advent wreath served as table decor and our priest blessed them. My advent wreath is just a candleabra that I weave either Christmas tree clippings or holly from a bush in the front yard into. Usually I just trash the greenery and the candles, but usually it has not been blessed. What is my obligation here as far as disposing of those parts?

Blessed items must be burned or buried.
My mother used to use a coffee can and burn our blessed palms in the yard, then bury the ashes.

Thank you. So I should likely keep burning the candles till they are gone and can burn the greenery.

I’m picturing it.
Kids: Is it Advent? Mommy what are we celebrating?
Me: we are celebrating my poor time management with regard to candles and possibly my scruples. 😆

They’re all still miraculously asleep. I could be burning them right now. Not as a secret, just as a good time for fire.

Maybe you could re-use the candles next year? Or burn them throughout the year on Holy Days of Obligation and use them up that way.

Good idea! Burn the purple ones one at a time during lent. Use the pink one for pretty much anything as my kids are obcessed with it. It might even start a tradition that helps me be generally less wasteful with not blessed candles.
