Hello. I read a lot of topics here saying that it is a sin to download music from Youtube, without the artist consent.
The people also generally say that it is ok to give away a CD that you bought and don’t want it anymore. Or to lend for a time for a friend.
Ok. I get it, but let’s imagine the following scenario: you buy legally a mp3 song, could you give away to a friend? If you let him copy the music from you it is ok? Or you can give him but you need to delete it first? Or if you give him you could potentially give to a million people. It just seems that this concept of stealing intelectual property gets very blurred with digital things that can be reproduced millions of times without any real damage for the owner.
It is like saying that it would be a crime to steal a grain of sand from the Sahara desert. It is not yours, but it is like an infinity supply…

Let’s assume you are a musician, or a sound engineer, or a producer. You are someone who makes their living, pays their rent, feeds their family, with the money you make by making music.

Someone buys your song.

They then decide to steal a second copy of that song.

To steal wages is one of the sins that cry to heaven. A person who makes music is no less worthy of being paid for their work than is the plumber or the carpenter or the trash collector.

Thank you. You are right. Another thing: The place I work provided me with pirated software. What should I do? If I can’t just refuse to use, they will never understand and they would never buy the original version.

I always appreciate your (name removed by moderator)ut, as you’re one of the few here who makes a positive contribution to discussions here. But I must respectfully offer a bit of correction here. Given the OP’s apparent and stated issues with scrupulosity, it’s probably not helpful to put this into these terms.
