By that are you asking if, as Christians we are bound by these prescriptions? If so, the answer is yes, as the Catechism of the Catholic Church makes clear. This is in contrast to some Protestant Dispensationalists that believe almost nothing in the Bible (morally speaking) is binding on Christians except what is found in the New Testament letters of St. Paul.

Throughout scripture, Old Testament and New Testament, God’s ten commandments are defined as the way people love God. A being cannot love without the option to choose not to love. Freely choosing to obey God is love for God.

Jesus tells us that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are in the Kingdom of God. In Psalms and other Old Testament scripture, King David and others give thanks to God for salvation through God’s Right Hand. We know that it is Jesus who is God’s Right Hand. The reason Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are in heaven is because they love God through their actions in accordance to God’s will. It is the same in New Testament.

The way people, Old Testament and New Testament, go to heaven is through Jesus Christ, the reason people go to heaven is because they love God and love for God is accomplished through free from the will of God obedience to the will of God.
