I was fortunate to have 2 priests celebrate Divine Liturgy from 11:30 pm on New Years Eve to 12:30 am many years ago, and when they passed, no one continued to do that for the parishioners. I loved doing that to open the new year. Miss those 2 priests very much, who have gone home to Jesus. They were men of prayer and service.

Did you have the opportunity to celebrate Mass or Divine Liturgy over midnight where you live?

For a few years I was able to attend Exposition and Benedction on New Year’s Eve, with Benediction given at Midnight. It was a great way to start the New Year.

Penny, this is lovely. I haven’t yet been fortunate enough to find a parish offering this, but I absolutely love the idea. Thank you so much for posting! 🙏.

Your post also reminded me of a recent post from Catholic blogger, Joseph Moore:
We wrap up 2018 tomorrow by finding an Adoration chapel to spend the last moments of the old year and the first of the new, then Mass, presents, breakfast and teary goodbyes to the older 2 kids. sniff.
Another experience I’ve never had (spending the first and last moments of the year in Adoration), but it’s another one to aim for in the future.

Thanks again for your post! 🌹
