“Holy God, holy Mighty One, holy Immortal One, have mercy upon us (the Church) and upon the whole world.”

We all know some miracles that the world needs.
 
Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

I’m happy to pray the Divine Mercy novena on the planned days, but since we don’t even know what will be happening that far in advance, I’m focusing on just getting through Easter first, since Divine Mercy Sunday comes after Easter.

I have asked Our Lord to please end this COVID business before Easter.

Father please protect us from the virus and those who have it, please heal. May we as a people walk strong in Christ. Many more come to Chirst and spread the good news of his word. May we as children of God, serve you well. In your name, Jesus amen!

Yes, the whole world is experiencing Lent this year in a new way and making lifestyle changes.

Yes, I think that whole Church and world would do well to plead to the Triune God for mercy, healing and a fix for the Covid-19 threat. There is spiritual power in prayer, in the Sacraments, in the Mass, in the Trinity, in Mary, in the Divine Mercy devotion, in the communion of saints. Let us all use our gifts, talents and time to work with faith, hope and love for an end to the COVID-19 threat and for the Kingdom of God to advance. Without God, nothing is possible. With God, all things as possible.

The period from Good Friday through Easter to Divine Mercy Sunday on April 19 is a special time of graces. So, let us all pray that graces will indeed be poured out richly.

Specifically, he [Jesus] told her [Saint Faustina]: On that day [Divine Mercy Sunday], the very depths of My tender mercy are opened. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. On that day, all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened.

When I first read about these promises of grace attached to celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday, I decided to test it out. So, when the day arrived, I prayed all day long for my dad who was in need of conversion. Well, his conversion happened that very day! And 15 years later, it has still stuck.

The waters fill the ocean basins. The knowledge of the LORD shall one day fill the earth.

The name Mary or Maria is related the word mar-e or sea. May Mary “full of grace” be a means of grace in fullness for the whole world. May God’s kingdom fully come and may God’s will be fully done on earth as it is in heaven.

In the last chapter of the Bible (Revelation 22), the tree of life is described whose leaves are said to be for the healing of the nations. May Almighty God’s healing indeed come for this COVID-19 crisis and all the world’s needs.

First Day of the Novena
1210 Today, bring to Me all mankind, especially all sinners, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me.

1211 Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from it. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Oh omnipotence of Divine Mercy, Salvation of sinful people, You are a sea of mercy and compassion; You aid those who entreat You with humility. Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy forever and ever. Amen.
