But it says this introduction is omitted when we use the Invitatory along with-

Lord open our lips
And we shall praise your name

So is it our choice which intro to use every morning?

Which one do I use?

If you are praying the Invitatory psalm you begin there, with the antiphon Lord open my lips . . .
then to right to morning prayer w/o the O God come to our . . .

if you are not praying the invitatory, begin with O God come to our . . .

don’t know about the star and dagger but suspect it has to do with chanting the psalms I don’t have that book

do your best to find someone experienced to pray with, at least occasionally, while you are learning, it is very confusing if you are new to this.

don’t sweat “getting it right” devote most of your learning curve to becoming familiar with the 4-week psalter, then worry about the Sundays and propers.

if your book does not come with one, look for a prayer card or make your own with the Benedictus on one side and Magnificat on the other which you can use as a place holder for the day, w/o flipping back to find those prayers. The antiphon for each is recited before the prayer and after the gloria at the end, just as with a psalm. I got mine by simply cutting of the back cover of a Magnificat magazine. very helpful

They have all the chants for Morning and Evening prayer along with the Propers and Commons in the Mundelein Psalter. They failed to include the Invitatory and a lot of people asked for it, so that was provided gratis from the web site.
