Divine Worship Prefect to celebrate Trad. Rite in Rome

I have never seen the long red “vestment?” Can you please give me any more info on it or a link/source?
 
When I saw the news I thought it was a wonderful sign of where things are headed. It shows
  1. the willingness of the prefect to pontificate, and thus his openness towards the traditional rite
  2. a new escalation of the level at which the EF is celebrated - not just a cardinal but the cardinal in charge of the Church’s worship
and 3) the EF moving into the most high-profile and significant churches - the pope’s own basilica, no less.

All around, great news.

Ah yes, slowly but surely, little by little…

Not even those who set up the Pope recently on the Williamson affair can hold back Truth and Sacred Tradition. Looking forward to seeing the Pope celebrate the Mass according to the Extraordinary Form in St. Peter’s soon. Tradition must increase, novelty must decrease.

Amen to that. what the raving wolves.

today i went to confession and i was surprised to seing that they had put back Jesus on the Cross behind the Altar. it was not there before. what they had before was Jesus Risen and no Cross. so things are changing. Thanks be to our God who has heard the cry of His people.
 
Personally I’m absolutely thrilled that it will be done in S Giovanni in Laterano. And because it’s the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Rome, I see it as being more symbolic than if it were in any other, including S Peter’s.

Thanks New York brother - don’t forget to put in your request at St. Patrick’s for the EF given there is a changing of the guard in April. There is now a weekly EF on Wednesdays at 515pm at Church of Holy Innocents (w.37th/broadway). Deo gratias.

I’m not a member of the Archdiocese, but it does concern me, so let’s see what happens. The outgoing occupant of the episcopal throne is without question one of the obstructionists, and on top of that appears not to have been particularly well regarded by his own clergy (for a variety of reasons, obstructionism among them).

For example, when asked about the EF, the rector of the Cathedral was reported to have said “not on my watch” and of course since Summorum Pontificum there have been exactly 0 (zero) EFs offered at the Cathedral. The rector has only the authority given by the pastor (i.e. the Archbishop’s).

I know nothing of his successor, and can only hope there will be an improvement. If the EF is offered at the High Altar, I’ll see you there. 😉
