I didn’t know where to start, but any information would be appreciated.

Here my situation: I was baptized and received my first communion, but never went through Confirmation. Many years later I got married outside the Church to a divorced woman who had a child from her previous marriage. The relationship turned ugly very fast and we were divorced. Since then, I have remarried and we have children. We attend Mass, but do not receive the sacraments.

What can be done to receive the sacraments again?

They would look at the marriage outside the Church…which should be easy…and should be quick…then in all likelihood …(and assuming that you were her first attempted marriage) you can get married 🙂 (convalidation…a simple thing) and then you will be married 🙂 and live as married in joy and receive the sacraments (starting with confession 🙂 prior to the marriage…)

Go see the Priest…(he can start the ball rolling…and there may be a way you can start receiving the sacraments already one one repents (confession) and begins to live as brother and sister (avoiding scandal…one may need to go to another Church for a while to avoid such if people know you are not married…etc…)…but discuss this possibility with the priest…)

Glad your coming home 🙂

begin by speaking to your parish priest, make an appointment so you have time to lay out all the facts of your marital and sacramental history so he can advise you on your personal, unique situation. Welcome home. It is probably going to be much easier than you think to regularize your marriage and return to the sacraments.

Wonderful you have decided to make this move. 🙂

Also his wife’s status. He doesn’t mention if she was free to marry in the eyes of the Church. If she was not married in the past, or she also like OP was a Catholic married outside the Church w/o dispensation, then indeed it should be a simple matter. Many but not all parishes require that the couple to go through some sort of pre-marital counseling, workshops etc. before convalidation.

As has been said the parish priest is the one to advise and guide for all of it.
