Do Anglicans believe that Christ founded the Church on Peter?

You’re way off on that statement, VARC. Do I need to remind you how many statements Augustine made about papal supremacy? Funny you should talk about Zosimus vs. Augustine concerning pelagianism, when Augustine himself said, “”[On this matter of the Pelagians] two councils have already been sent to the Apostolic See [the bishop of Rome], and from there rescripts too have come. The matter is at an end; would that the error too might be at an end!" And there is a flurry of other quotes showing Augustine held the papacy to be the Chair of Peter and the final authority in the Church. Drawing a link between Cyprian and Augustine and trying to pair them as papal antagonists or cases against infalliblity wouldn’t be my first choice. I will end my argument with you here, VARC. I respect your divergent opinion from mine but I’m sticking to my belief on this one. I think it’s a strong one. We are at the point of the proverbial dog chasing its tail in a circle. Thanks for a spirited debate.
Okay. Agree to disagree. I’ll pick another fight with you later:D

**I just don’t see how you can maintain this point of view. First of all, the Church of England broke off from the Roman Catholic Church. That’s just a fact of history. So in the Cyprian view, you left the Church and splintered into schism. Such schism would nullify your grace and sacraments altogether. From the Orthodox point of view, the RCC broke off from the Church and then the Church of England broke off from the RCC making the Church of England EVEN MORE lacking in any validity whatsoever. You’re trying to have it both ways saying that from the TEC point of view you ARE within the Church still.

**THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND BROKE OFF FROM THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH?
A FACT OF HISTORY!

History, friend, has no part in this discussion.
Please do tell, just when did the Anglican Church separate from Rome? As far as I can see the Church in England did no more than point out that the Bishop of Rome has no place to interfere in English Church affairs. In doing this it follows the teaching of the Ecumenical Councils, the which ,to Catholics, are the supreme authority in the Church here on earth, they certainly were to Thomas More. The Councils having the authority and guidance of the Holy Ghost!

“You left the Church!!!”

Just when did this happen? To the Latin Councils of the middle ages, the English Church was given precedence because of their stemming from the earliest Christian times, at no time did we leave the Catholic Church! Maybe you are mistaking the actions of the few schismatics who left the Church at the behest of the papacy and the Council of Trent in 1570! They were medieval donatists. Schismatics in that they left the Church in time of trouble and great strife and seet up schismatic altars.****
