I’ve known a few Orthodox Jews who don’t say the word Christmas at all, let alone write it. Instead they refer to the day as December 25th. I think that’s carrying it a little too far!No, they do it because its easier. But no one does it to “Take the ‘Christ’ out of Christmas”. It isn’t a sign of disrespect, just shorthand. (Nor is it modern text-speak)
And if asked most people could tell you where that came from.
