Do Catholics believe in mediums?

I have never used a Medium before, however the idea of it fascinates me. Is there really a way to communicate to the dead? or do we just not believe in Ghosts… My mother is freaked out by the idea of it. But I guess I’m wondering because if I were to see a sign from a deceased family member…could it be real?
