Do Catholics need to be married in a Church?

My wife and I were born and Baptized as Catholics. Following Confirmation, however, that was the end of our Catholic days—going through adolescence and early adulthood never attending church or giving any consideration to Catholic Law in making our life-decisions. We were married in Jamaica by a non-Cathoilic minister three years ago. Its only in the last year that I have found my way back to The Church. Where does our marriage stand in this case?:confused:

Based solely on the info you provide, it’s invalid. If neither of you had been married before, that’s easy to remedy, go see the pastor of the parish where you reside (your pastor, whether you were aware of it or not) and discuss it with him.
