My biggest problem with being Christian today. Church does not belong in government. If you disagree then let’s make churches start paying taxes

I worked in Germany for three years a long time ago but if you declare your religion on the tax registration form , be it Catholic, Protestant, Jew etc around 9% is deducted from your monthly income as a Church tax.
The tax still applies today.

Your question says one thing, and then your post another.

Catholics don’t want to ‘make’ anyone (let alone everyone) accept Catholic teaching.

However, Catholic teaching is not something which is only to be trotted out in our homes and our churches. It is a faith–in a Person–which imbues our being. . .our words, our thoughts, and our actions.

I’m curious --would you say that honesty doesn’t belong in government? How about justice? Fair play? Care of the environment? Help for the poor?

All those things are part of the Christian faith.

Remember, the U.S. constitution guarantees freedom of religion. . .

What about unions? They don’t pay taxes but are involved in politics.
What about Planned Parenthood? They don’t pay either.

If the church was not involved in government then the government would probably kill babies…wait… nevermind.

In Vatican II documents there are discourses on non-Catholic religions and non-Christian religions. We do not want to make everyone accept Catholic teaching these days. That thinking dissolved along with colonialism and it’s missionary activity. We also look for truths contained outside the Church.
As far as should Church and State be joined, there have been both good and bad examples of this, historically.

Can you be more specific? A particular situation that is bugging you?

The question topic and opening statement are very different from eachother. But that’s ok 🙂

I don’t know what would happen if the churches got involved in government. But as for the main question , I think it would be wonderful if everyone all over accepted the Catholic faith and teachings :)🌻🌈

What would you like me to agree or disagree with? Your statement is way to vague to give a response.

Could you please give us an example of the Church’s involvement in government? Last I check the government doesn’t answer to the Pope.

God Bless
