Hello,

So I went on ebay and was looking around at rosaries and I came across one that said WWII Rosary. Of course, being me, I was interested. WWII is my favorite time period, and so I looked at the item, and it was only $20, and it came with a book, the case and a rosary. Plus the rosary was black, which I adore.

So I got it in the mail yesterday and it looks very worn, so I decided to do some “googling” online, and I came across something called “French WWI Military Issue Rosaries”. I was wondering if it is actually a WWI rosary instead of a WWII rosary.

I know we can’t know for sure, but I was wondering what you all think about this rosary. I’ll post some pics of it. Not amazing quality (phone)
Also I was wondering what the stamp is on the back of the cross? I haven’t seen that yet in my short time involved in Catholicism. I’m not a member and I’ve only been research Catholicism for a while.

Thanks again.

Turn the crucifix a bit and you will see the symbol is a sacred heart inside a crown of thorns.

Honestly, I wouldn’t know what a French WWI Military Issue Rosary would look like, but they do sure look neat! I sadly could not find an image of one and I never even heard that the French military issued rosaries during the Great War.

Make you sad what has happened to France and the road they have gone down, doesn’t it.

Those rounded, elongated beads are easier on the fingers. It’s a beautiful rosary, good find.
