I was married in Catholic Church in the sacristy, in 1970 in Brighton, Michigan. We had a child and lived together for about a year and a half there and then in Cleveland, Ohio. I was an alcoholic and I did drugs and was a non attentive father. We were under stress when married and her parents were persuasive about getting married since she was pregnant. We lived with my parents for a short time and since I was away almost all of the time she left me with the child and I assume live with parents in Maryland.
After a few years my mother told me that she received in the mail a questionnaire asking me about our marriage beginnings. I think I answered some of them and my mother mailed it back. I was very irresponsible and found out there was a divorce legally but I have the impression that the Church was asking questions for annulment. I NEED TO KNOW IF THE MARRIAGE WAS INDEED ANNULED so I might be able to get married in the Catholic Church. She is Catholic and has remarried. Sorry for all the details but thought I should give a few. I would of course give more, but maybe the information is simple enough. I thank you very much and I hope God will bless you for this.
Columbus, Ohio
Ps. I’ve been sober 35 years and counting one day at a time.

Congratulations on your sobriety.

The easiest way to determine if you have an annulment is to ask for your baptismal record. Catholic marriages are notated on the baptismal record and if an annulment is declared then that too is notated. Or you could contact the parish where you were married and ask them if the marriage record has a notation of an annulment.
