Do I have to wait until my annulment comes through before I can be baptized?

I have been attending classes through RCIA and in the same process I have been going trying to get an annulment from my previous marriage so I may be able to marry my current fiance within the church. I was informed today that I would not be able to receive the sacrament of baptism at the Easter Vigil because I have not received my annulment. Is this true? Why is this the case? How can I be told I am not able to receive this precious sacrament all because the diocese has not approved my annulment yet?
