Do I need an annulment before I can become a Catholic?

hi all!
I was raised in a religious home and am coming to the Catholic Church to share my future husband’s faith. I was previously married and my annulment is under way. I am taking the prep classes to join the Church but have been told that I can not be received into the Church until my annulment is completed…why is that? I am living separately from my fiance and we are not starting any wedding plans until the annulment is over, what is the reason I am not able to join yet?

Since you have not yet attempted another marriage I see no reason why the annulment process should delay your entry into the Church. I recommend contacting your pastor to clear this up.
